At Coconut Water, we’re always on the look for solutions to keep a clean environment and to make our students aware of the importance of disposing of waste properly. From what we gather, only about 60% of the students eventually put into practice what they learnt in the workshops. So we decided to try a new approach: we selected some of the best students to act as leaders, so that they watch out and motivate the others to use the rubbish bins and keep a the school premises clean. We piloted this new idea in the Beng Rang and Wat Rokar schools, where we trained a group of 6 students. We also gave them school material to encourage them to keep on studying and to carry out their new responsibilities as our little “green agents”.
