In order to enable students to develop critical thinking skills and tolerance with the hope that they engage themselves in the development of their community later, Coconut Water has launched a non-formal education program.
This consists of the life skills workshops on topics such as hygiene, nutrition, human rights or culture. We work directly with 55 classes (grade 4-6) in 15 public elementary schools in Battambang.
During school year 2013-2014, these workshops focused on climate change, its consequences and the different ways that can be implemented to reduce its impacts. We also celebrated International Environment Day with the students and teachers of the Ang primary school.
For the 2014-2015 school year, the workshops are divided into three main themes:
An average of 1135 students per month participated in these life skills workshops. The purpose of this program is to provide students with new extra-curricular knowledge to encourage them to take action in their community.
